When is the best time of year to dive?
There is no bad month, only different trade-offs. Spring (March–May) and autumn (September–November) bring warm water and comfortable air temperatures. High summer has the warmest water and the busiest boats. Winter is quieter and cooler, with more wind, so pack a thicker suit.
Does the season change what you see underwater?
The reefs and wrecks are there all year. Wildlife varies: bottlenose dolphins at Shaab El Erg were seen most often in late spring and summer in a 2015–2017 survey, so the summer months are a good bet for the dolphin trip.
How do we plan your dive days around the weather?
On our Daily Diving days the guides choose each morning's sites for the wind and sea, so you dive the sheltered side on a windy day. If we cancel because of the weather or sea, you pay nothing and we rebook you for another day.
