Packing list for a Red Sea dive holiday
For a Red Sea dive holiday pack your certification card, logbook and insurance details first, then the gear that matters most to you — many divers bring at least their own mask and dive computer in their hand luggage and rent the rest. Add a wetsuit suited to the month, reef-safe sun protection and a small spares kit. Here's the full list.

What documents should you bring?
- Certification card (or its app version) and logbook.
- Dive insurance details and an emergency contact.
- Any doctor's sign-off you needed for the medical questionnaire.
- Your flight times — we plan your last dive day around them.
Which gear goes in your hand luggage?
PADI's packing advice is to make your list early. Many divers carry their mask, computer and regulator in hand luggage, so a delayed suitcase doesn't cost them a dive — anything else can be rented on the spot.
What clothing and protection do you need?
- A wetsuit for the season — 3 mm in summer, 5 mm or more in winter (see our wetsuit guide).
- Reef-safe sunscreen, a hat, sunglasses and a rash vest for the boat.
- A warm layer for the boat ride home in winter.
What small extras help?
- A spare mask strap, fin strap and O-rings.
- Seasickness tablets if you need them.
- A reusable water bottle — staying hydrated matters on boat days.
- Some cash for crew tips.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need to bring my own dive gear to Hurghada?
No. Full equipment can be rented — with us it's €10 a day, and a computer €5 a day.
Should I bring my own mask?
If you have one that fits well, yes — fit is personal, and a mask is light to pack.
Can I bring a dive computer in hand luggage?
Yes; most divers do, along with the mask and regulator.
