What is the PADI Open Water Diver course?
Full entry-level scuba certification combining theory, confined-water skill development and open-water training dives.
Recognised worldwide: once certified, you can dive to 18 m with a buddy, anywhere.
Who can take PADI Open Water Diver?
No prior certification; complete theory, required water skills and all training dives.
Age: Minimum age 10. Junior certification and supervision rules apply.
Medical: Medical questionnaire and physician approval when required; swimming/watermanship evaluation and confined-water skills required.
How does PADI Open Water Diver run, day by day?
PADI Open Water Diver usually takes 3–4 days.

Day 1
Theory and shallow-water skills
Wrap up the knowledge reviews, then get comfortable with the gear in shallow, sheltered water.
- Set up and check your own kit
- Mask clearing, regulator recovery, air-sharing
- First hovering and buoyancy practice

Day 2
Open-water dives 1 and 2
The first two training dives from the boat, starting shallow and finishing each with a safety stop.
- Depths set by your instructor and age limits
- Skills repeated on the reef, then time to look around

Day 3
Open-water dives 3 and 4
Complete the remaining skills and assessments within your agency's training depths and junior limits.

Certified — or a spare day
Paperwork done and your certification processed. If wind cost us a day, this is where we catch up.
Boat days follow our daily schedule — 08:00 hotel pickup, back at your hotel around 16:30 — and the plan shifts if wind or sea conditions say so. Your instructor sets the final pace.
How deep will you dive?
Maximum 18 m / 60 ft after certification, with a 12 m / 40 ft limit for ages 10–11. Ages 10–11 dive with a PADI Professional or certified parent or guardian; ages 12–14 dive with a certified adult.
